Before attempting to set up your shade:
1) Ensure the shade has been charged for 7 to 8 hours. These shades arrive with a low battery and will require charging upon receiving the product (or shortly after installation). Shades will not operate properly if not fully charged. The LED indicator light* near the charge port on the motorhead should flash green when charging and remain solid green to indicate it is fully charged.
2) Check if the shade is “awake” or activated. We recommend activating and pairing one shade at a time to the SelectBlinds Automation app to avoid pairing issues. The shade will arrive in “sleep mode” to prevent it from operating during transit. The directions to activate your shade can be found on the shade’s packaging and in the motorization guide that arrived with the shade. *Note: The LED indicator light will illuminate green when charging regardless of whether the shade is activated or not.
Getting started in the app:
- After downloading the SelectBlinds Automation app, open the app and tap CREATE ACCOUNT. Follow the prompts in the app to create an account using your email.
- You will be sent a verification email from noreply@selectblindsautomation.com. Click Link to Verify Your Account in the email to complete the account creation process.
- Sign into your account. Please be aware shades will only pair to one user account. This means multiple people within the same household may download the app on their phone, but all users must log into the app/account using the same email and password if they desire to have control of the same shades.
- After signing into your account, you will be brought to the main Rooms screen.
- Ensure all Bluetooth, location and notification permissions are set to “allow” or “allow while using app” when prompted after signing into the app. These permissions are required to use the SelectBlinds Automation app and your shades.
- If you are unsuccessful in verifying your email, please delete the app and redownload it to try the account creation process again. Be sure to check all email inboxes (including junk/spam) for the verification email.
- The home screen will prompt you to Add Shades if none have been added. To add additional shades after the first shade, from the Rooms screen, tap the 3 dots in the upper right corner of the Rooms screen > Manage Shades to pair any additional shades.
- Once you tap Add Shades or Manage Shades, the app will scan the surrounding area for shades available to pair. The app will ask you to add the shade to a Room (you may need to create a room if not done previously) and then finalize the pairing process.
Note: If the shades do not appear as available during the app pairing process, follow the steps below to reset your shade:
1) Have the app open and your phone nearby/accessible.
2) Press and hold the motor button on the shade headrail (near the charge port) for 3-4 seconds, until the charging indicator light turns purple/magenta.
3) A prompt will appear in the app giving the option to either Factory Reset OR Reboot the shade.
4) Move forward with the Factory Reset option and allow the shade to complete this process without closing the app.
5) Once the process is confirmed as complete in the app, close and then reopen the app.
6) Add the shade to the app again.
