Do I need a remote control to operate my shades?
A remote is optional, as all setup and control can be done through the app. However, we highly recommend adding a remote for added convenience and as a backup control option.
How many shades can one remote control?
Each remote has 5 channels and can control up to 10 shades total. Multiple remotes can be used.
Does my remote come with a wall mount?
While a wall mount is not included with your remote, an optional magnetic wall mount can be added to your order for convenient remote storage.
Can I connect my remote to my shades without using the SelectBlinds Automation app?
No. The app is required to pair your shade to your remote. The process is super simple. Follow the steps below:
To add a remote:
We recommend adding all shades to the app prior to adding the remote.
- Start with your remote and shade nearby and accessible.
- From the Rooms screen, tap the 3 dots in the upper-right corner.
- Tap Manage Accessories. Next, tap the plus sign in the upper-right corner > Add remote.
- Use the arrow buttons to select a channel.
- Tap Choose Shades and select the shades you want to add to the channel. Tap Done.
- Tap Link in the upper right-hand corner.
- Set the physical remote to the channel you want to pair with the shades(s). Press and hold the heart button on the physical remote. Keep holding it until the app’s remote display matches exactly what you see on the physical remote screen.
- The app will confirm the remote is now linked. Tap Done.
- The app will take you back to the Accessories screen where you will now see the remote you just added. To add additional shades from here, follow the steps listed below, starting at step 3.
To add additional shades to the remote:
- From the Rooms screen, tap the 3 dots in the upper-right corner.
- Tap Manage Accessories.
- Under Remotes, select the remote you want to add additional shades to.
- Tap Configure Remote.
- Use the arrow buttons to select a channel.
- Tap Choose Shades and select the shades you want to add to the channel. Tap Done.
- Tap Link in the upper right-hand corner.
- Set the physical remote to the channel you want to pair with the shades(s). Press and hold the heart button on the physical remote. Keep holding it until the app’s remote display matches exactly what you see on the physical remote screen.
- The app will confirm the remote is now linked.
