Choosing the Perfect Length for Your Drapes
Measuring for Length
You can specify any length you desire and round up to the nearest 1/8" for that perfect fit. If you’re dealing with uneven floors, don’t worry! Just measure both sides and go with the longest measurement to keep everything looking polished.
Floor-Length Drapes: Options for Every Style
When it comes to floor-length drapes, there are a few great options depending on the look you’re going for:
-
Classic & Clean
- A crisp, tailored finish looks fantastic with drapes that end ½” above the floor or just touch the floor. Simple, yet sophisticated.
-
Luxurious Puddled Look
- For a touch of elegance, you can add 1”-10” to the length to create a puddled effect:
- 1” Puddle (Trouser Break): A sharp, neat look where the fabric just grazes the floor.
- 2”-4” Puddle: A popular choice that spills the fabric just slightly onto the floor for a soft, romantic vibe.
- 5”-8” Puddle: A fuller, dramatic effect, where the fabric gently fans out.
- 10”+ Puddle: The ultimate luxurious look, usually found in formal spaces where you want to make a bold statement.
- For a touch of elegance, you can add 1”-10” to the length to create a puddled effect:
Important to Note: Puddling is beautiful but it may not be the best choice if your drapes will be opened and closed regularly. It can cause wear and tear over time.
Sill-Length Drapes: A Neat & Timeless Option
Sill-length drapes are perfect for a sleek, minimalist look. Here’s how to measure for them:
- To the Sill: Measure to the top of the sill for a clean and structured finish.
- Below the Sill: Measure 1"-2" below the bottom of the sill for a more relaxed, yet still polished look.
Grommet Panels: Stylish & Simple
Grommet panels are an easy and elegant way to update any room. Here’s what you need to know:
- Rod and Grommet Size: Hang from a 1-1/4" diameter metal rod. Grommets are 1-1/2" in diameter.
- Colors: Grommet colors are available in Satin Nickel and Antique Brass.
- Panel Details:
- Panels come unlined by default, but you can upgrade to a privacy liner or blackout liner.
- Grommet drapery panels come with 200-225% fullness, depending on the product. Fullness is extra fabric across the width of the drapery to provide a richer and fuller look. It increases light and sound absorption.
- Fullness is not added for curtain panels, so if you want a fuller look, consider doubling the width of the panel.
- Sold as a single panel or pair of panels.
