SelectBlinds Automation makes it easy to control your motorized blinds and shades using your phone, remote, or smart home system. Below are answers to common questions to help you choose the setup that works best for your home.
What features are available in the SelectBlinds Automation app without the Bridge?
You can use the SelectBlinds Automation app without a Bridge to control your shades via Bluetooth. With the app, you can:
- Set up your shades and remotes entirely in the app
- Control shades from your phone while within Bluetooth range
-
Create Scenes to move up to 5 shades at once
(Example: a “Good Morning” Scene that raises your shades) -
Add Timers to Scenes and automate your daily routine
(Example: Schedule your "Good Morning" Scene to run at 7am every weekday) - Adjust upper and lower stopping points for your shades
This option works well for smaller spaces or customers who want simple, local control.
What are the benefits of adding the SelectBlinds Automation Bridge?
The SelectBlinds Automation Bridge unlocks advanced features and remote access:
- Control shades from anywhere there is internet using the app

Can I use more than one Bridge?
Currently, one Bridge supports up to 15 shades. Support for multiple Bridges is planned for a future update.
Where should the Bridge be placed?
Place the Bridge in a central location where it can remain plugged into a power outlet and maintain a reliable connection with all shades in order to be added to the app.
Does Bluetooth range vary?
Yes. Bluetooth range depends on your home layout, building materials, and nearby wireless devices.
How do I power my motorized shades?
SelectBlinds Automation shades are powered by rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, allowing for easy installation with no hardwiring required. Simply charge your shades for 6 to 8 hours upon receiving them for up to 6 months of battery life.
For added convenience, you can upgrade to a Solar Charger, which can extend the life of each charge by several additional months.
Do shades arrive fully charged?
No. Shades ship with about 30% charge for safety. Fully charge them for 6 to 8 hours shortly before or after installation.
Do I have to use the SelectBlinds Automation app?
Yes. The SelectBlinds Automation app and a compatible smartphone are required to set up and use the SelectBlinds Automation system. The remote is paired to the shade through the app and can be used to operate the shade only after setup is complete.
Do I need a remote control to operate my shades?
A remote is optional, as all setup and control can be done through the app. However, we highly recommend adding a remote for added convenience and as a backup control option.
How many shades can one remote control?
Each remote has 5 channels and can control up to 10 shades total. Multiple remotes can be used.
Does my remote come with a wall mount?
While a wall mount is not included with your remote, an optional magnetic wall mount can be added to your order for convenient remote storage.
Do I need to buy a charger?
Yes, at least one charging kit is required per order. Each charging kit includes a 5V DC–compatible adapter and a 10 ft USB-C to USB-C charging cable.
An optional charging extension cable is also available, providing an additional 48 inches of reach.
